If the school doesn't close by those things, it's not too abnormal weather in your region to effect you.

Our school closes if 30% of students can't get to school or can't get to school without taking risks that could seriously injure them. We've shut down for snow, severe thunderstorms, and floods on major roads and highways. I remember there was a blizzard here that left three inches of ice on all the roadways, it took a whole week for the roads to be cleared so people could drive. We began running low on food.
