you know that is the person who hosts the site's fault, if they don't want to be charged extra, it's simple that they shouldn't be hosting the images in the first place.

most sites love it because it brings in more traffic

the only reason i use imgur to rehost my images because i'm not handicapped enough to risk getting banned.

Rehosting annoys me personally because if there's something good I'll try to see what is on their root. That doesn't work with hotlinking. HOWEVER, there is a fairly good middle ground. Just append .nyud.net to the domain name. So, for example, http://example.com/example.png becomes http://example.com.nyud.net/example.png.
