Author Topic: rehost your images  (Read 996 times)

every image you post on another site without rehosting it is more traffic that the site youre hotlinking it from gets, so the person who owns the site youre hotlinking it from has to pay more because the owner hasnt accounted for the sudden increase in traffic, and some sites like 4chan and funnyjunk make hotlinking break, so if you post an image from one of those sites you look like a handicap because your image doesnt work

it's just common courtesy

the first two on this link lets you rehost an image onto imgur easily

and if you don't use FF or chrome just rehost it manually

Hotlinking is fine with most sites.

Hotlinking is fine with most sites.

just because its fine doesnt make you any less of an starfish for doing it, its the equivilent of taking someones shirt because they say its ok but you already have a million shirts and your shirt truck is right beside you

?  It's more like referring friends to your favorite restaurant.  You're not taking the one instance of the image.  What's the point of having a website if you don't want to serve internet users?

?  It's more like referring friends to your favorite restaurant

but that restaurant doesnt have enough things to serve all of your friends, because they didnt get enough because they dont get that much traffic, so they have to order more and get it quicker which charges them extra

most sites love it because it brings in more traffic

OP can suck a big black richard

Stop with the loving metaphors they make my head hurt because they just don't work. ;_;

The bad thing about not rehosting images is the fact you're using their bandwidth but you're not advertising their website so they get nothing out of it but you cost them money. There was a news website that hotlinked from a tiny little website and crashed that website and also charge up a stuff ton of money on their account.

You're stupid let me explain why: Only stuff money schemes like the Cheezburger network want their stuff hotlinked and even then they would prefer it to be hosted somewhere else and that's because it takes bandwidth from them if it's hotlinked, now the only reason they would be somewhat okay with this is because of their stuff banners on all of the images and that works as their advertising which pulls people into the website which in turn view their ads giving them money. Any website that doesn't plaster their content with a banner doesn't have any advertising unless someone looks at the link.
