Author Topic: Bill Nye kicks Creationism in the loving face  (Read 2546 times)

So. I go to Yale. By now, you logically assume that my grades are prestigious. Correct? If you don't understand stereotypes, and you assume that they are a negligent perception of beliefs, then you are ignorant to the fact there. Stereotypes are a reality. Even if it is not true to a particular persons belief. If I tell you I'm a Yale student, you're going to think that I have prestigious grades. Even if that's not true.

I clearly said that Stereotypes are not always accurate, however, they are the standard basis of assumption that has been accepted by society.

You proved my point with the second bullet. Bill shouldn't be telling people what to teach their kids, but should instead simply express his views on creationism in an open manner and let people make their own choices. Like I said. People will make their own choices.

Offering your opinion is not telling people what to believe at all. I'm not sure where you got that from. When I say that I like Blockland, that is my opinion. I'm not saying "If you don't like Blockland, you should.", which is the context of Bills article.

Let me add-on to Yale.

Even if it's not true, it's pretty clear that I had something going for me (money, brains, lawyers) in order to get into that school.

Your brown townogy is totally flawed because you NEED good grades, a good work ethic, and every other stereotype to actually be a Yale Student.

One can join a religion and not adhere to all the stereotypes. It's not a mandatory process. Try again.

That was the whole point of the video. Did you even watch it?

If you state an opinion in a situation where nobody has asked you for your opinion, you are trying to get people to agree with you. It's the same thing.

Not quite the same. The phrasing and tone matter.

Yeah, if you just flat out say you shouldn't believe something, the person might think you're a richard. But if you say your opinion without directly implying they should believe it, they will be less inclined to think you're a richard.

They carry the same meaning though. At least literally.

The Miller-Urey experiment is my favorite example of how life formed from non-organic molecules into complex organisms that could recreate themselves with near identical precision.

You totally overlooked the point of my brown townogy and demonstrated no comprehension to it's purpose.

Yes. But if you join Atheism, and believe in God, you're uninformed. If you are a Christian, it is a fair stereotype that you believe in God, and have more Christian values than not.

Under the circumstance that no one asked your opinion, and you state it regardless, it is still not a default assertion of your own beliefs. And no. It isn't the same thing.

But if you join Atheism, and believe in God
What?
Then you're not an atheist.

If you are a Christian, it is a fair stereotype that you believe in God
This is just as stupid; how could one call themself christian and not believe in god?

You totally overlooked your English class because during your sentence you changed your verb tense twice and half of your words are used in an incorrect context.

Also I didn't overlook your brown townogy, I brown townyzed it and it has key differences that make it unsuitable as a proper brown townogy.

Christians believing in God is not a stereotype much like car salesmen selling cars is not a stereotype.

Christianity is a monotheistic religion. What are you trying to get at exactly?

And also, if you are an Atheist, but you believe in god, you are not an Atheist. Atheist literally means, "Without-God". Are you really this dumb?

Under the circumstance that no one asked your opinion, and you state it regardless, it is still not a default assertion of your own beliefs. And no. It isn't the same thing.
"1: I wonder where we're going to eat tonight
2: Any ideas?
1: I think we should go eat Mexican food
2: Well I like Chinese Food"

In this case, person 2 is implying that person 1 should go eat Chinese food instead of Mexican food. Under this circumstance:
  • No one asked person 2's opinion
  • Person 2 stated his opinion regardless
  • Person 2 was asserting his belief that they should go eat Chinese food
This is proof.
