I believe that the equilizer is being made in a TF2 pack, so you could use that.

There's this. It even has events for when the axe/pickaxe hit something so it's very useful.

I'm starting to get fairly good at modeling. I'm not sure if I can export to DTS correctly though, however I can make you a fairly good model just send me a picture of what you want it to look like and I can make it for you.

This is by far the best pickaxe I've seen.  It has individual strikes-long strike, short strike, upcut-there is a pickaxe, wood axe, fishing rod, and compund bow.
