That's the worst loving thing to do.

I don't see the problem with User-Content Alpha, other than it takes some time where if a person really wanted the textures he would take the time to do it the correct way.
I am pretty sure UCA does something similar or it puts files in another folder. Why would you want to install an add-on and then have to make subfolders in folders just test out a new brick stud you may not even like, it is much more simple to just drag the files in after making them read only and then simply deleting them and let the launcher replace the default studs files.

To the forgettards saying what I am doing breaks the game, and how I am giving "advice" on how to break the game, explain to me how I have been doing this since V20 and my game is working fine. Putting other files as "read-only" CAN damage something but why one someone need to replace that?

The reason Badspot doesn't like this is because when updates from the launcher come out people may get errors or certain things may not get updated because they are set to read-only, however I only set brick stud images and the Blockland image logo as read-only and nothing else. I doubt the brick studs are going to change anytime soon.

Select all of them>right click one of them>properties>readonly done.

UCA just reads the files from a different directory, it's not similar to making the default files read-only.

When you tell stupid people a poor method for achieving what they want, they tend to do it poorly. Thus breaking the game when done wrong. You're only justifying it for yourself because you know better, the people you are informing likely do not know better.

Why would you want an add-on that performs useless file copying when you start a game?

Some people find it useful

using UCA is way worse than making files read-only
not saying that making files read-only is a good idea

Your "advice" is still the worst loving thing to do, and your "advice" can and most likely will get you banned.

People should just stick with User Content Alpha.

Notice how my "advice" only stated of making brick texture images "read-only", doing that doesn't break the game. If someone would want to replace another file with "read-only" then that could possibly break the game, but why would you want to replace something that could damage the game, what would be worth replacing?

Neither User Content Alpha, nor setting the files to read-only is a good idea, nor even a practical one now, due to shaders. Plus, a certain someone doesn't like when people do that.

It breaks the preloader. Just because something works doesn't mean it's not broken.
