Author Topic: Good DJ set to buy? Any better suggestions?  (Read 1765 times)

Ok so in this past topic I suggested a DJ setup and I got this suggestion:
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/products/dj/traktor-kontrol-s4/

I am willing to spend $1000, yes.
I have been saving up since then.

Should I get the one that was suggested or a different one?
If so, please link me to one.

Also, I have remixed quite a few songs so it wouldn't be going to waste.

What software do you use, and do you want to stick to it with the DJ sets you want people to help you find?
(also nice little logo thingy)

Ignore ^, he's a handicap. $1000 is your budget? Increase it to $1200 and you can get the Pioneer XDJ-Aero, I can personally vouch it's pretty damn good. For $1000, let me do some looking around. I can find you some good equipment.

Oh, but don't get the traktor kontrol s4. Just, don't. It's bad.

Since Pioneer stuff is actually good, it's out of your price range (aside from aforementioned XDJ-Aero). There are, however, refurbished deals which are really good. This is $450 and a MASSIVE cut in price. It's really, really worth it. 2x puts you at $900 though. So you'll need to find them cheaper. My second favorite is Gemini, and their prices are more fair.

CDJ-600 - Half off on amazon, puts you at $460. That leaves $640 for a mixer, which is more than enough.

CDJ-650 - Half off on amazon, puts you at $640. That leaves $460 for a mixer, which is enough.

CDJ-700 - Half off on Amazon, puts you at $900. Same as refurbs, get those if you go with this price range. Unless you have some issue with refurbished, then get these I guess. Pioneer is really better though.

Mixers, then. I really suggest a Pioneer mixer. The cheapest Pioneer mixer with effects (you need them) is the DJM-350.. so:

DJM-350 - Full price, $484. A little over budget with a more expensive turntable setup.

DJM-900 Nexus - Half price on Amazon, $1719. Best mixer in existence. Way over budget. Only even listed it because the other one is the only mixer in your price range.

Is it common knowledge that you would continue using the same software, or what

200 isn't a lot more, I am saving up for at least half of it and my parents said they would pay the other half so I can get it for Christmas.
I have around 400 bucks saved up so far, so not a lot more to go.

Also yes, if you know something is much better suggest it plox

Rekordbox is the only software 99% of DJs use. If you use anything else you are automatically bad. DJing is about hardware.

Pretty much broke down the market for you.

im serious

Ah, I didn't know.

Ah, I didn't know.
I mean, you weren't wrong, there are other softwares, it's just that they're disposable. The reason I personally hate the Traktor S4 is because, well, it uses Traktor. That doesn't roll with me. All DJing should be done on hardware, not on a laptop. The reason people use Rekordbox is to move the sound files from their computer onto their DJ equipment. The S4 communicates with your computer and your computer does the DJing. Again, that just doesn't sit right with me.

It's currently being used as an amp, what a good use of expensive equipment.

I literally just broke down the market. You won't get anything of any quality for under $700.

CDJ-250 - Half off, $330 for both.

PS1 - $50. No effects. Low quality.

Total: $380. That's your cheapest possible set.

my budget is 20 dollar

I'm not exactly an expert but from the material I've read and from seeing the big names in the industry like Deadmau5 and Armin Van Buuren, they all use pioneer which is pretty much the industry standard.

Idk sometimes I'm weary of DJ set ups that are one piece of equipment like the XDJ Aero but since its Pioneer and Trinick recommends it from actually using it I'd go with it.

Alright I guess I'll go with the XDJ Aero.
If anybody has a better idea or a pair of seperate sets I should get that would be better please suggest.
