Author Topic: 'Orbiting' style vehicles  (Read 678 times)

after being a total MW2 sucker for the past few weeks and whatnot, I felt the need to whack a couple zombies in the faces with a barrage of sky bullets
but alas, none of the vehicles followed anything i was looking for.
however, i would find this to be an interesting prospect for BL

I'm sure somewhat here has played any CoD game from mw2 or further, so this concept should be easy.
lets take the usual gunship into account

it pretty much orbits around the map in a certain way for a certain amount of time before it flies off, allowing you to shoot off a barrage of h.e. shells or minigun rounds into the polygonal faces of your enemies.

now, for BL if you wanted a gunship that works similar, youd need a pilot, and a gunner to shoot all those bullets. now in some cases this would be good, but in others, the pilot may be a helen keller relative, and fly around like a drunken kite, or just abuse the large vehicle size of a gunship to ram it into the ground and watch it spaz out and murder millions with crappy collision and hitboxes

now im not proposing an actual gunship to be made, just a vehicle that follows that same 'orbiting' path.
you'd spawn the vehicle using your average plate, and it'd orbit around that plate some certain radius from the plate, and obviously at a certain height.
and then you could edit these values using events, allowing it to fly farther away, closer to the ground, etc.

i think it would be interesting for a dm server in which you can reward people, allowing them to use the vehicle until it blows up, or it would be great if you feel like destroying a massive horde of zombies by yourself if you're without internet

It could be a bot so you could control it using bot events, idk though

Edit: A plane like this appeared in Command&Conquer: Zero Hour, that circled a target area and bargged it with bullets and missiles for several minutes, depending on your "generals promotion"

Bot events was CRC'd, such a useful addon too...
