Author Topic: Transferring Steam Games To My New Computer  (Read 783 times)

Ok, so i got this new computer and it's very nice blah blah blah.

My internet sucks ass and i don't want to wait for the games that i already have installed on my old pc to download on this pc.

If i take the folders from my steam folder on my old pc and throw them on this one will it work? And if it works what folders should i take? Because i'm dying to play games finally.

Well, if you have a portable hard drive/big flash drive lying around you can backup games to it then plug it into the other computer and transform them that way. I don't know how you would do it with folders.

yes it should work as long they are in the exact same place as before

but somethings way have to be re-installed

I . . . didn't think of that.

So i back it up on my 16 gig thumb-drive then what?

Settings -> Downloads + Cloud -> Steam Library Folders.

Settings -> Downloads + Cloud -> Steam Library Folders.
There was also a restore backup button. :)
