Thing is, only semi-organized gangs can get guns if they're illegal, along with anyone they want to sell to. Don't get me wrong, I'm your stereotypical gun nut American, but we need to look at both sides. On my phone, I'll write more later.
Then how did the guy who did that Colorado shooting at the movie theater get his gun? I dont think he was in a gang.
It has been remarked that a double-barrel gun, or any other gun, cannot in this country come under the description of "unusual weapons," for there is scarcely a man in the community who does not own and occasionally use a gun of some sort. But we do not feel the force of this criticism. A gun is an "unusual weapon," wherewith to be armed and clad. No man amongst us carries it about with him, as one of his every day accoutrements—as a part of his dress—and never, we trust, will the day come when any deadly weapon will be worn or wielded in our peace-loving and law-abiding State, as an appendage of manly equipment. But although a gun is an "unusual weapon," it is to be remembered that the carrying of a gun, per se, constitutes no (sic) offence. For any lawful purpose—either of business or amusement—the citizen is at perfect liberty to carry his gun. It is the wicked purpose, and the mischievous result, which essentially constitute the crime. He shall not carry about this or any other weapon of death to terrify and alarm, and in such manner as naturally will terrify and alarm a peaceful people
Thats not how it works. There is no "only" in the equation. In the states illegal weapons can and will be sold to any crazed gunman that needs one. The person who sells them does not risk the chance of losing a profit just because he sells to "organized street gangs".
there is nothing offensive about being pro-gun.the US culture depended on guns for a revolution. and used them again when the brits tried yet again.during ww2, the japanese could have theoretically taken half the country, as our navy was crippled and army wernt mobilized.but Yamamoto: "we cant invade the united states, there is a rifle behind every blade of grass"so they didnt even try a land invasion.our own private weapons protect us from both foreign enemies, and our own government from gaining to much power.
Rather than banning specific weapons, how about banning specific people from having access to guns. The mother sounds like a nutjob, and it was widely known that she had guns in a house where there lived a mentally disturbed son prone to strange outbursts....
The problem with the US is that we have so many guns we need more guns to protect ourselves rom those guns. Even then with this self-defense plan, criminals are going to shoot a lot more easily then a nervous citizen.
