Spiral Knights
"FREE IS FALSE"

Spiral Knights... that not pay to play MMORPG. I came across this game and thought it would be amazing. Well, I ended up losing $20 just so I could keep playing. Why? I'll tell you why!

The Storyline being that you crash landed on an Alien planet. A planet inhabited by mole-like creatures called "Clockworks". They don't accept you being here and their monsters attack you and your people.
When you begin, you'll find yourself on a nice wide environmental area, (LIES ALL LIES!) you are able to walk around and slash your sword at random things until- wait. What MMORPG uses GUNS? That's original, yet kind of odd. At least this isn't that handicapped "Age of Armor" game. Any way, Spiral Knights has an amazing combat system which is unique among other MMORPG games. Instead of just engaging combat, hack, get hit, wait five seconds, repeat. You fight them by actually hitting the buttons. Because of this, they have a nice "Charge Weapon" system which is very nice to use. The guns can be charged too. Charge attacks can lead to extremely powerful attacks that can make rings of fire, ice, lighting, explosions. You name it! You swap from your sword to a gun or maybe even a bomb. However, UNLIKE other MMORPG games, you cannot power up yourself unless you want to buy Power-ups which last a certain amount of time. (About 30 days or less) Once they fade, you have to buy them again, and again.. and again. They often aren't cheap. Their currency "Crowns" is gained by selling things, trading things for Crowns, putting them up in auction and doing missions. Missions often take a while and if you're new the highest you're going to get will be about 200. In auction, it's basically an auction. You can sell things from one hour to twenty four hours and the highest bidder gets the item you were selling. BUT, do not put in "Buy Item". You can get a lot of money for doing it in bids, but allowing people to BUY it for a certain amount will kill off a gigantic reward.
Missions are done like any other mission. Do a task and then leave. But to start a mission, you have to donate something called "Mist Energy". Mist Energy is used as a miniature currency in the game. It's very valuable and delicate, one misuse of it and you have to wait 24 hours to get it back. But what if you want to keep playing? YOU GOTTA PAY UP, BUDDY! That's right! You have to BUY Mist Tanks to get you 100 Mist Energy, which is- like I said earlier- delicate. But, if you want the good stuff, you have to buy Mist Energy and waste it on something! OR you can buy a different kind of energy, that energy MUST BE PURCHASED WITH MONEY and gives you major benefits. Honestly, I came through running out of Mist Energy and had nothing other to do but sit and wait until it came back. Honestly, if you're going to make us PAY to keep playing your game, that's just sickening. I don't care if you have your good combat systems and stuff, you're ripping us off! Plus, if you want to craft some really good armor... well, you know...
GOTTA PAY! (Gotta pay!) YOU GOTTA HAVE TA PAY! (Gotta pay!)

OVERALL
This game may be fun, but with all of the energy stuff - if you want to keep playing you are going to have to pay, and you will not only pay once!
+ 4 Storyline is original.
+ 6 Good Combat
- 3 Environmental movement can be extremely annoying.
- 4 A huge Ripoff
AWFUL
