Author Topic: Is it possible to implement the ability to play .ogg based videos into BL?  (Read 467 times)

After surfing Wikipedia and seeing a video using the .ogg format, I was immediately excited, and I decided to suggest this for Blockland, that being if something such as a "video block", along with a good video codec (I suggest Theora), can actually be effectively implemented using Blockland's limited engine. This would be an example of a glitch video using a lossy video codec. I also have created this post in an attempt ask why stereo .ogg files cannot be used with BL, although there was once an instance where I was able to do this without any interference.

Newer versions of Torque engines actually do support Theora playback.

The addition of this would be extremely trivial (i could imagine perhaps video tutorials like in garry's mod but eh), and probably wouldn't happen, though.

Stereo .ogg files probably can't be played because of 3D sound implementation.

Would be cool, but still why can't you just go to youtube and watch vids?
