So, after testing out Steam Big Picture Mode alot, I very well like it. The design, and the simplicity of it all. The question is here: Would you like to see it as an OS, or something that just doesn't limit it's uses to Steam actions only (besides it's web feature)?

Hmm, no.
It's useful for gaming on a TV, but not much else.

maybe for something media centerish would be nice to put on a computer in the living room

I might sound crazy but I usually get tired of all these phones, computers, and gadgets that allow you to freely customize them however you want. With so many choices, and so many things to install, such as Rainmeter, or widgets for your phone; it gets very annoying.

I hope this is not only me. I would much rather prefer an OS that didn't allow you to customize a "Desktop" or "Homescreen" or any crap like that. The only thing I would like is an apps section, or favorite apps section.

You can actually kinda already do that with Linux, and even Windows now that I think about it.

In Linux you would just start up Steam in Big Picture Mode without a desktop environment or window manager on boot.
In Windows you would either replace some Shell registry entry with with the path to Steam's executable or have Explorer killed off on startup.

It's rumored that Valve is already doing this though with the Steambox or whatever, probably through their own Ubuntu or Debian spin off.
