Author Topic: A quick question, if I may. (Steam greenlight related)  (Read 1100 times)

This is mostly directed at Mr. Spot or, really, anyone who is well acquainted with the greenlight process. What exactly will need to happen, supposing the game is green-lit for the month of September? I'm just curious if the game will be available in the Steam store within a week or within three months. Is there also going to be a major community overhaul? Or perhaps a major overhaul to the game itself? And how will existing members get the game on steam without re-purchasing it? Just enter the key into the "Activate a steam game" window, or will we download the game and enter the key in there, like we do now. Will each key be tied to a steam account, thus more or less removing the problems with authentication failures? I'm really quite curious as to how this whole process will go down, so to speak.

We're moving up the ladder, and at 3rd place right now, I think these are valid questions. Any responses are appreciated, but I think the most information will come from someone that knows the system in-depth.

Yeah, I always wanted to know that.

Me too, as my email tied to my key now has long been unavailable, will I not be able to activate Blockland on steam?
Or will I be able to use my key, since I remember it.

And how will existing members get the game on steam without re-purchasing it?

I'm pretty sure Blockland will stay just the same; Steam is just going to be an alternate way to get it.

Depends on badspot.

Both of these are do-able as well. Depends on badspot.

It would be great if Blockland got enough sales so that Badspot could hire more developers to update the game.

Good idea, but I really think he must keep an eye on who he is hiring, because I think he wants to keep that blocky style in his default add-ons.

Not blocky. Badspot has a specific style that is the Blockland style, as I call it. He would probably have to be the one that makes and releases Blockland style, default addons.
Unless if he can teach THE WAY.

We don't need people hired to make add-ons. That's what the community is for. I would like to see actual improvements to the game rather than mods.

True.

I think this is what people will do to buy Blockland on steam :

1 : Buy it from the Steam Store.
2 : Receive a page with their activation key, sent through the normal blockland.us activation system and get an email
3 : Download Blockland for free from Steam
4 : Open Blockland, it's the demo, so they enter their key as usual
5 : Activated.

A couple of these questions have been answers already and have been on te greenlight page since it first went up. I thought steam would greenlight games this month as well? They are only doing it in September?

Edit: For the questions that haven't been answered I bet the keys will just be tied via the account. Some games on steam do this already and also games on Origin such as Medal of Honor (the key I believe isn't visible or obtainable but it is automatically added with the account). We really don't know how this will work though, good questions.

The perfect way for baddy to improve the game would be that he would be completely focusing on the more complicated part (etc. Vehicle Physics) and he could arrange these Voting polls for add-ons on his website, kinda like mini greenlight for add-ons to be added into the game, but with certain periods of time, to prevent the game from being filled entirely with default content.
