Author Topic: Build & Defend: A Tale of Survival  (Read 2726 times)

I found this game because I googled building survival games. After watching the video at the start it didn't seem that cool however I tried it and I died like on the second day because I had no idea what I was doing. I played again and started realizing how to play its actually pretty fun. It has a free demo but i'll probably buy the full version because I just beat the demo. It also has multiplayer, but for the demo you can only play the building game mode.

So basically what you do is build up a base to fend of monsters at night time, however your only real food supply is wheat and the monsters will either try to kill you or go for your wheat. You want to defend both. The game also has boss battles and so far after finishing the demo I've only seen two, the bosses were varied so far and I enjoyed fighting them.

I actually don't know a whole lot about the game at this point because after looking at some of the pictures of the full game there seems to be a lot more features.

Here's the picture gallery on the website:

And the main page:

I'm going to get it tomorrow because i'm about to go to sleep, if anyone else decides to get it, want to play multiplayer?
Also its only $5.

cool game. might buy it but i'm also saving up for a tablet

...$5.

If i wanted to, i could easily do what this game does already in Minecraft vanilla. I don't see why this game needs to exist.

I was going to write down a 10 line rant about how Minecraft's popularity has pretty much ruined every Indie developer's imagination, but i know none of you will read it.

Talk about originality, this game has none.
(In case you missed it, one of their alpha screenshots shows them using Minecraft's lava texture as a placeholder.

I see no reason why someone would pay something for it. Looks like it was made in Gamemaker.
There are dozens of free games that have better quality and this is doesn't look like it's worth it at all.

What the forget?
This is a stuffty game, at least if it was free. As far as it's priced and of this quality, the developer(/s?) are a perfect example what's wrong with the gaming industry today.

Well, its still an early alpha apparently. You shouldn't judge the quality so soon.

I decided to give a watch for the trailer. Menu config has Minecraft sounds in it.

"If I wanted to, I could easily do what Minecraft does in Infiniminer! Minecraft should not exist!"
"If I wanted to, I could easily do what Starbound does in Terraria! Starbound should not exist!"
"If I wanted to, I could easily do what Saints Row IV does in GTA San Andreas! SR4 shouldn't exist!"

ontopic I'm gonna try the demo, will edit with my opinion on it.

Half all of those comparisons are bad and your point is bad.

Those are awful comparisons, and i never said that the game shouldn't exist, i said that i don't see why the game needs to exist. Learn to read.

but this game is basically a crappier-looking version of minecraft

"Why does it need" to and "why does it" are different things. Learn to read.

Sure it looks similar to minecraft but it doesn't play like it.
It has a bigger emphases on killing monsters with guns and turrets and stuff and defending your home.

"If I wanted to, I could easily do what Saints Row IV does in GTA San Andreas! Why does SR4 need to exist?"
I don't need to justify your statement with an intelligent response because it didn't perfectly refer to something i said. Learn to read. Learn to readLearn to readLearn to readLearn to readLearn to readLearn to readLearn to readLearn to readLearn to readLearn to readLearn to read
Quit picking at grammar and insulting any argument that comes your way.

They aren't good comparisons nor arguments to begin with, so i have all the rights to dismiss them. My main point unless you noticed it, was that this game has a high emphasis on an aspect that Minecraft already executes perfectly, rendering this game a waste of money when there are way better deals out there where you get loads of more original and polished content instead of this very cut down version of Minecraft. Its basically like if someone was selling a box of 10 apples for 100$ next to a guy selling a single apple for 20$. You get a better deal with the boxed 10 apples since it has more content towards your money in comparison if you bought 10 of those 20$ apples.

So what's your opinion after about an hour or three?
