Author Topic: Almost caught a 4 foot long Northern Pike. (Fish)  (Read 3446 times)

"You should'a seen the fish I nearly caught!
It was this big!

But no, that sounds pretty cool.

I've never gone fishing. I honestly can't tell if it would be something I would enjoy or not.

I think it doesn't help that I'm not a big fan of fish for food, so I'd get no use out of the fish really, and would probably just end up throwing them back.
Fishing is a really relaxing thing to do.
Silence, other than the sound of the water and the casting of your pole.
Nice cool breeze
And if you're in a boat the swaying of it.

There are a few rivers and a reservoir near me which allow fishing, but I think you need a license to use them, and they can be pretty pricey.

Ever tried Coastal fishing?
I live right on the coast, and my Uncle, who is a bit of a fisherman (but mostly just changes hobbies all the time, as he's now taken up shooting instead) has gone a few times out here.

It's in a rather rocky location though. It's all slate rock and usually quite choppy, aswell as being in a town, so it's not always so quiet.

I'd like to say I'd give it a try at some point.
If he ever comes back down and wishes to do a bit of fishing, I might see if I can tag along.
I never took advantage of that before.
I think mainly because he's a bit of a manly-man and kinda looks down a little bit on you if you're not all that manly.
Which I'm probably not, lol.
You should'a seen his face when I had my first go firing his shotgun. Those things are heavier than you'd imagine.

I only fish for fun. I never keep them. It's fun even if you do throw them back.

Never been coastal fishing, just pond and lake.
No wait, yea I have. Once, at a river.

Also a licence shouldn't cost more than $20 and those don't expire for years.
You should go with your uncle sometime or another, learn to fish. If a hook goes in your finger you should be able to remove it, according to books you cut the barb off.

And yes, shotguns weigh more than you'd expect lol.

I pay $30 a year for my license. The only multi year deals are the super expensive ones that include bow hunting too and I don't really need that.

Hm, only $20 here.

My uncle's Mossberg wasn't that heavy, then again I have been holding rifles for a long time.
