Author Topic: Almost caught a 4 foot long Northern Pike. (Fish)  (Read 3448 times)

So I went fishing at a lake about an hour away for my house tonight, and we were having a pretty crappy night. Only caught about 10 bass total. We were about to leave when I decided cast a top water lure out a few times. Then suddenly I see a huge pike come flying out of the water with the bait in it's mouth. I fought the fish for a good 3 minutes until my line snapped due to the fish's sharp teeth. It was pretty disappointing, but it was still remarkable seeing such a large fish. They're so rare in this lake, and I've only caught one once in my life. It was only a couple feet long though. Anyways, the image below is approximately how long it was. No, I'm not exaggerating.

catching 10 bass is a disappointment
what bait do you use and what lake do you go to holy stuff

Cossayuna Lake in Argyle NY. There's tons and tons of bass there. The larges one I ever caught was 10 pounds and it was in that lake. I usually use Gary Yamamoto rubber worms and top water poppers.

The rubber worms in deep weed lines is the way to go during the summer.

That sucks, but it's a good experience.

Yeah I have some topwater frog baits, but no live bait. It's just one of those things you don't intentionally fish for.

You could catch them at a pond or something.

frogs never die on the hook. and they make so much commotion, they should be bringing in fish from all over the lake lol

It was this big!

But no, that sounds pretty cool.

I've never gone fishing. I honestly can't tell if it would be something I would enjoy or not.

I think it doesn't help that I'm not a big fan of fish for food, so I'd get no use out of the fish really, and would probably just end up throwing them back.
