Author Topic: give me ideas for ridiculous enemy types  (Read 1118 times)

so if you've been to my server recently you'd know that i am making what is basically a total conversion mod for gravity cat's endless zombie gamemode that is ridiculous and amazing and also in an act of goodwill (!!!) i have cleared my banlist so there is really no reason for you not to come down

besides i guess load times

anyway, the point is, i'm making a ridiculous over-the-top and as-of-yet unnamed mod for grav's zombies that involves new zombie types out the richardhole, unique animations and ridiculous fast-paced not-at-all-like-national socialist-zombies shootin fun, and i need more enemy types

but not ZOMBIE types, because they're ghosts. refrain from assuming.

so we're all on the same page, here is what they are.

they're NOT zombies.

to get a feel for how ridiculous i intend on this pack being, here are a list of enemy types that are already present and what niche they fill in gameplay

there's the Ghost Pistolero and the Ghost Speedster, who harass you and are generally easy to kill and nonthreatening
there's the Ghost Boxer, who is fast and somewhat durable but dies in droves and serves to be the annoying melee enemy
there's the Ghost Swordsman, who is the dangerous melee enemy
there's the Ghost Halberdier, who is even more dangerous but somewhat rare and can take a bunch of hits
there's the Ghost Machinegunner and Shotgunner, who both exist to harass players at long range and cause you to actively try to dodge shots
there's the Ghost Heavy, who is the biggest forgetin threat on the planet and soaks up damage like there's no tommorow
there's the Ghost Grenadier, who shoots rockets at you from long range and is generally annoying and not-at-all pleasant to be around
there's the Ghost Aircraft Bomb, who is the ghost of an aircraft bomb on legs and attempts to Self Delete bomb you
and finally there's the Ghost Magician who jets around and pesters you with magic from above

he's a forgetin starfish.

if you have any ideas or scripts you'd like to contribute, please feel free. bosses? throw em my way. normal enemies? shoot. guns? sure, why not. i wanna make this as crazy and awesome as humanly possible

forget you know what especially bosses. i'd rather tend toward things i can reuse (or just modify) models for but hey whatever it's all just practice so more work is probably better for me

How about one that Copies the target's weapon and fires when the target fires?

please try to keep ridiculousness to gameplay, and not my workload

About how many players does the average game have?

tends toward about 12, caps at 18, usually about 6 survive to the end of each round

This may sound unappealing but maybe if there was a ghost with a Shield And A Sword meaning you have to get around him and shoot him or shoot his shield untill it breaks!

Ghost Ectoburner- A ghost with a weapon that burns its own ectoplasm to hurt players.Not so tough or fast but stays away from players and acts like a real guy with a flamethrower would- only short puffs here and there to conserve fuel. Flamethrower probably has a relatively long range and high damage but doesn't get fired often. Loses a small amount of health every time it fires but maybe has slow regeneration?

Ghostly Bowlin' Champ- You know Morden's rebels from Metal Slug? You know how some of 'em lug bowling-ball mines at you? That's this guy. If the projectile can't straight-up roll on the ground having him lob a bigass explosive bowling ball through the air might be fun and you could just reuse default ball models with different textures!

Ghost Grenadier- You know what? Just add grenade-lobbin' ghosts. Throws lots of grenades all the time. Grenades, being of poor ghost make, probably don't explode well. Definitely not Metal Slug. Nope.
 
Ghost Halberdier- Charges players, not too tough but may catch you by surprise. When not charging has a big swing range. Also hops about while charging for more Super Mario World koopa imitation.

Ghost Ecto-charger- A ghost carrying a device which can replenish other ghosts' health. Fights back by shooting said ectoplasm at players as sticky little blobs of hate. Can 'Ectocharge' ghosts to regenerate health at extreme rates for several seconds, but still vulnerable to any kind of insta-death while under the charge's effects. Totally not a Quick-fix ripoff.

Ghostly seaman- Out from the wreckage of many a once-seaworthy vessel, these scurvy-laden specters heft harpoons and try to reel in players. Downsides include carrying actual ghost scurvy that can hamper players by reducing fire rates.

Ghost mortarman- Carries an expy of the Dn'R Mortar. Fires at players from far away and generally tries to keep it that way. Probably not a good idea since the bowling champ does the same thing, except they don't care about distance. Also my idea would've involved them moving away from players any way they could, firing at them from behind things in an imitation of traditional artilleryman's cowardice. For this reason they'd also be really annoying and would probably be best always knowing where players are.

Helpful Zombie- While all of these ghosts might be mean n' nasty, this fellow actually tries to help out! This guy didn't let his debilitating ghost status get in the way of him being a good citizen, so he possessed his old body and dug his way out of his grave (don't ask) just to help out. Just some zombie that follows players around doing stupid stuff like healing and carrying ammo and sponging ghost fire. Click on him to get ammo, he may try and come to you if you've taken damage. May or may not also have a weapon for self defense. A bad idea that would be hard to make AND useless.

Weapon: Ghost-o-Grope! Grab ghosts and use their pathetic ethereal bodies against their comrades by throwing them at them. Only works on smaller ghosts and requires larger ghosts to be at low health to work. Is probably too much work anyways.

Weapon: Ecto-brain-chain! Zap one ghoul and all of its buddies nearby get a bit of the shock. Chain lighting- on ghosts! Makes their sad little goo brains explode.

Bad ideas.

I think you should release these publicly, regardless of if they're finished or not.
I've been to your server and they're great!

Ghost Pyro - Flamethrower, duh.
Poltergeist - Spawns a brick-shaped vehicle and chucks it at you.
Scary Ghost - Carries a haunted jack-o'-lantern that fires projectiles that cause you to tumble/stuns you.
Sneaky Ghost - Has a cloak and dagger.
Slimer - Nuff said.

Bosses:
Stay Puft Marshmallow Man - A giant, humanoid marshmallow. Spits marshmallow blobs at you that slow you down and deal damage. Takes a lot of hits.
Golem - A bunch of random parts & bricks stuck together. Can spawn ghosts or launch stuff at you.
Hades - God of the Underworld! Spawns a metric forgetton of ghosts and launches the Elemental Spellpack's darkness projectile.

Ghost starfish - teleports n stuff and is a richard

how about some more ghosts based off of doom monsters

Ghost Sage/Shaman- bears resemblance to the Baron of Hell/Hell Knight; with large horns (sage) or a bull-like skull helmet (shaman), with robes as attire. Throws colorful fireballs that burn momentarily and knock upwards, and has a lot of health.

Ghost Berserker- bears resemblance to the Pig Demon. Rams players headfirst, knocking them back and obviously causing the great annoyance of being knocked back.
actually why not a horned football helmet and possibly shoulderpads
