Sly Cooper was enjoying his relationship with Carmelita Fox, a relationship they were able to begin by Sly feigning amnesia, when Bentley showed up. Bentley explained to Sly that the pages of the Thievius Raccoonus were disappearing and that Penelope had also suddenly vanished at the same time. Bentley was looking to reform the Cooper Gang so that they could stop whomever was altering history.

Sly soon met up with Bentley and Murray at their old hideout, where Bentley introduced both of them to the Time Machine. With this device integrated into the Cooper Van, the gang would be able to travel back in time and fix the past. Their first stop was Feudal Japan, but because the Time Machine required an item from that era, they would need to pull a heist to get the item in question. Their target was a nearby museum owned by a seemingly respectable art mogul, a museum that Sly had been keeping tabs on already.

One year after Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly Cooper and Bentley, along with a mysterious team of recruits infiltrate Kaine Island, home to the Cooper Vault. However, just as Sly attempts to open the vault with his cane, Dr. M, a former colleague of Sly's father turned evil, shuts the vault and grabs Bentley. Sly is suddenly grabbed by a beast and his life flashes before his eyes.

Flashing back to the past, Sly and Bentley need to recruit more members to the Cooper Gang. They travel to Venice to find Murray, who abandoned the team after Bentley's accident, blaming himself for what happened. Sly finds Dimitri still in prison, and the two make a deal for Dimitri to find Murray, all while Carmelita chases after Sly. Sly meets up with Murray, but refuses to join the gang until the black water is pure. Knowing Don Octavio is behind it to blackmail the citizens of Venice to like opera again, Sly and Bentley pull off a series of jobs required to get rid of the tar flowing into the cbrown towns of Venice. When Octavio's recital comes up, Bentley challenges him to a competition, but when that fails, Octavio demolishes a building and injures Bentley. Murray, furious at Octavio, quits his wisdom training and fights Octavio, defeating him. Murray rejoins the gang, while Octavio is sentenced to 30 years behind bars for polluting Venice.

Murray feels bad for abandoning his training and starts to miss his old life, so the gang takes him to the Outback in Australia. However, miners have dug up the Guru's land, and the Guru refuses to join the gang until Sly finds his moon stone and staff. After acquiring these items, they go after the Mask of Dark Earth, a mask that allows its wearer to grow to an enormous size. Unfortunately, the mask gets stuck on Carmelita, and she grows so big that Sly is forced to climb up her bootlegs and tear it off, while her mercenaries destroy it. The Guru, viewing the restored land, joins the gang, all while on the run from Carmelita.

Bentley contacts an RC specialist named Penelope in Holland, who agrees to join their gang if they take down the Black Baron, a highly regarded pilot who won every ACES Flying Competition since it started. Sly finds Dimitri again, who gives him the flight roster if Sly gives does a favor. Soon afterwards, the gang discovers that Sly's old foe, Muggshot, is in the race and the gang gets him put back in prison by using Carmelita to arrest him. Sly enters the flying competition to defeat the Black Baron and wins, but the Baron refuses to lose and fights Sly. He is defeated and is revealed to be Penelope. She explains she was too young to join the competition, and using the disguise earned her fame, so she used it more often. She joins the gang afterwards, with Bentley taking a liking to her.

Two years after the events of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly Cooper, Bentley and Murray infiltrate the Museum of Natural History in Cairo to retrieve the Clockwerk parts, only to find that the Klaww Gang has stolen them. Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox and her new partner, Constable Neyla, put Sly under arrest, but he and the gang escape.

Sly learns of the tail feathers' location in Paris, which are being held by Dimitri. After infiltrating his nightclub, he is arrested and the Cooper gang locates the wings in India, where Klaww Gang member Rajan is having a ball to display the wings. Sly manages to distract Carmelita, undercover at the party with Neyla and the Contessa, to a dance when Murray saws off the wings and runs with them. Shortly after the gang gets away and the cops blow their cover, Rajan flees to the jungle with the heart, which is producing the spice for the Klaww Gang. Sly manages to get Rajan out of hiding, but he knocks Sly out, forcing Murray to battle him. Afterwards, Sly and Murray are arrested when it turns out Neyla (who previously double-crossed Carmelita by working with the Cooper Gang) betrays them and Carmelita to the Contessa (Carmelita was dancing with Sly the night the wings were stolen). Carmelita is enraged, and Bentley is shocked by Neyla's betrayal.

Bentley travels to the Contessa's prison in Prague, where he learns she is a secret member of the Klaww Gang hypnotizing her prisoners to force them to reveal where their treasures are located. Bentley is outraged and frees Sly, but must pull off a series of difficult jobs to free Murray. After freeing Murray, the Contessa escapes to her castle, where Neyla discovers the Contessa's scheme and hires an army to find her. Meanwhile, Carmelita also learned of the plan, and, with her being on the outs with Interpol, the Contessa takes her prisoner and straps her into a hypnotizing machine with the Clockwerk eyes. After freeing Carmelita and taking the eyes, Sly defeats the Contessa, whereas she is arrested for corruption by Neyla, further promoting the cop while Carmelita flees with the Cooper gang.

The Cooper Gang traces the spice shipments back to Canada, where Jean Bison runs a trade empire. After learning he is in possession of the stomach and lungs, they infiltrate his Iron Horse trains and steal the parts, shutting down his trade empire. He flees into the wilderness and creates a lumber camp, whereas the gang follows him. After learning the talons are the prize in the Lumberjack Games, the gang participates and cheats to gain access, but Jean Bison catches them and throws them in prison. After Bentley confronts him, he reveals he and his men looted the gang's safe house and sold all of the Clockwerk parts to Klaww Gang member Arpeggio. Bentley defeats him and the gang stows away in the northern light battery that is picked up by Arpeggio's blimp, forcing them to abandon the team van in the process.

Establishing a safe house on the blimp, Sly runs into Arpeggio and Neyla, where he discovers Clockwerk has been rebuilt and that Neyla was working with Arpeggio the entire time. Arpeggio explains how he is unable to fly because of his small stature and how building himself into the Clockwerk mainframe will make him achieve immortality. He also explains that he is planning to unleash a hypnosis light show over Paris, courtesy of Dimitri, who fed the entire city the spice, Rajan, who produced the spice, the Contessa, who created the hypnosis, and Jean Bison, who shipped it. Before Arpeggio can enter the mainframe, Neyla betrays him and enters the mainframe herself, killing Arpeggio and planning to unleash the hypnosis show herself.

The Cooper Gang disables the ship's engines to weaken Clock-La (Clockwerk and Neyla's names mashed together), and they team up with Carmelita to shoot down Clock-La. However, she flies into the blimp, causing it to explode while kidnapping Bentley and Murray. Sly whacks her head and they crash-land in Paris. Bentley remembers the hate chip that fuels Clock-La's immortality and removes it, only for Clock-La's beak to snap shut on his legs, seriously injuring him. The gang escapes just as Clock-La explodes. Carmelita, angry she missed Neyla, smashes the hate chip and the Clockwerk parts deteriorate, ending the Cooper curse forever. However, Carmelita is reinstated and puts the gang under arrest, but are in no shape for a fast getaway, so Sly sacrifices himself for his teammates. Everything is going fine until the Carmelita notices the helicopter circled around the Eiffel Tower 17 times, so while she checks on it, Sly makes an escape, knowing his teammates left him a going-away present.

In the end, Dimitri became a dance instructor on a cruise ship, Rajan started selling carpets in North America, the Contessa became a real estate agent, and Jean Bison started working for the EPA (only to get re-frozen when trying to save a group of baby penguins). Sly's whereabouts remain unknown still, and Carmelita is still looking for him.

Sly Cooper, with the help of his friends Bentley and Murray, breaks into police headquarters in Paris by obtaining a police file that belongs to Sly. He hastily exits just as Carmelita Montoya Fox arrives and starts shooting at him. Sly explains how an ancient family book called the Thievius Raccoonus can teach a person how to become a master thief. However, the book was stolen from him by a group called the Fiendish Five, whom killed Sly's father and took sections of the book with them. Sly wound up in an orphanage, where he met Bentley and Murray. Together, they plotted to track down the Fiendish Five and avenge Sly's father.

The gang travels to the Welsh Triangle, where Sir Raleigh the Frog lives. He created a storm machine to sink ships and keep ships off the waters, but Sly disables the storm machine's engine and confronts Raleigh himself, who is defeated by Sly and arrested by Carmelita. The gang then travels to Mesa City, Utah, where Muggshot runs a gambling empire full that caused the citizens of the city to flee after he and his thugs took over. Sly takes down his gambling empire and defeats him, leaving him in the hands of the law. Afterwards, the gang travels deep into the Haitian jungle, the home of Mz. Ruby. She took over the jungle and became a voodoo priest after she was feared as a child, creating an ugly swamp and an army of ghosts to take over Mexico. Sly steals all of her treasure keys and makes his way up to her skull temple, where he defeats her and she is thrown into prison for life for undead creation. Afterwards, the gang goes to the Kunlun Mountains of China, where the Panda King is burying villages in snow with his firework techniques. After confronting him, Sly defeats the Panda King and Bentley traces the metal on the two blasting vehicles found in Mz. Ruby and the Panda King's lairs, tracing it to Russia, the location of Clockwerk

i used to love this on ps2

These games are just way too easy, but I still love them for the gameplay, style, writing and occasionally, the music.
