Author Topic: Is Detroit the future of many other American cities?  (Read 4795 times)

No, it won't. Detroit died because a massive amount of white population left after race riots in the 60's. after that the economy plummeted and generally the major population were african americans, who definitely back in the 60's were the poorest demographic in the city. And i agree with caribou about China. their construction bubble is massive. They have poured tons of money into ghosts cities. They have a huge split between the poor and the wealthy, which is what caused the french revolution. Not only that but housing costs in China are very expensive considering how little the poor over there earn.

Looks like Pripyat.

I say we turn this place into a tourist attraction for dumb European tourists that like to visit abandoned places.

No matter what anyone says, I will always love the Chinese, their culture, the country, etc. China had it coming to them in a way, and now you see the biggest Chinese investors and real estate moguls are selling all of their properties fast before the bubble bursts. It will happen, the Chinese have much to lose and not much to gain because of all the money they lost/are losing right now.

It looks like the elephants sleep there.

A public university? I think you could do much better, you're a very smart kid and you are still young. I am too but I need to think faster. I might want to attend NYU.

Either you don't know what a public university is or you're a pretentious douchebag. I'm thinking it's a bit of both after reading through this thread.

I also don't know where you got the idea that our infrastructure was built poorly. It's built well, it just need to be maintained. This whole thread just seems like you don't actually understand the state of affairs in America or the rest of the world.

china didn't build the ghost cities to be used. they did it just to create jobs during the process.

its a dirty little modern-communist trick.
gov makes the plans, investors pay for it, skilled trades do their jobs, poor people are employed. they all get paid. and the gov gains economy.
abandon it because who cares, do it again and again.

its not what everyone is telling you, that they failed for some reason and the buildings and malls aren't used because they couldn't fill them Lol. that's our media lieing to you again

I'm not a douchebag because I believe an overwhelming amount of my countries public colleges are terrible achademically. Our infrastructure used to be built well and now it isn't and you are right nothing is maintained, renovated, revised, or rebuilt. I do understand affairs and the rest of the world, but opinions are opinions.

Our schools obviously aren't doing well either...

It also went down the sink because all of the former American car companies moved to Asia, Mexico and Europe mainly for the cheaper labor and parts.

What about GM? They are still in Detroit.

Except your opinion is based on things that aren't true. Where are you getting the information that public universities are terrible?

Just because you say it's your opinion doesn't mean it can't be wrong. I hate when people go that's my opinion stop saying anything about it.
