Author Topic: I'm in big trouble by the HOA  (Read 5733 times)

The pressures seem pretty similar to me. Both are pressured to commit their crime without being caught. The intent is the variable I'm manipulating to make the brown townogy.

Also, ad-hominem attacks are just about as low as you can get in any form of discussion or debate.

pretty similar does not mean cross compatible with studies that don't factor them in

and oh no, ad-hominem! are you going to start linking me to the cracked.com pictures or are you done lol

The point of a study is to establish a general guideline or rule that is applicable to the average person. There would be no point in conducting the Milgram experiment if all that could be garnered from it is that "people electrocute other people if they're told to by authority."

And, I have no idea what you mean by "cracked.com pictures."

you're certainly not treating it like a general guideline, you're using it like a hard and fast rule lol

Not really. I've said multiple times that being attacked is an occupational hazard, if I believed nobody would attack a gate guard because they are an authority figure I wouldn't have even entertained the idea of someone attacking anyway.

Furthermore, if you hearken back to my original point that brought up the Milgram experiment
I think the psychological phenomenon of observing a perceived authority figure via uniform would act as the deterrent more than the physical capability of the person in uniform.

I'm pointing out that I believe a larger portion of the decision on whether to attack or not stems from their perceived level of power rather than their physical capacity for force. Not saying that nobody will attack because you're an authority.

Petty criminals don't defy psychology
here is you using the experiment as a hard and fast rule, not a "general guideline"

No, that's me saying that petty criminals don't defy psychology. They don't, it's just a fact. Since, on a general basis people subconsciously respect authority figures, it's not a huge leap to believe that on a general basis petty criminals would share this trait. Not all. Generally.

you've used "psychology" in the context of the experiment. they're not interchangeable.

anyway i'm done. learn to interpret studies lol

I used Psychology in the context of Psychology. The study of the mind and its functions. You're arguing with me that I meant something other than what I really meant because you misunderstood what I said. That's your fault, not mine.

stop answering him, he's obviously trolling

pretty sure this topic is about calender being in trouble, not arguing about psychology and crime

I don't get why you need to be in a car. can't you use a code, key card, talk to the gate person, whatever this community uses?
I mean how would a gate know if you are a car or not, there has to be some interaction of some type to prove you live there. how else could a car go in and out.
just use the same process on foot.
they don't usually have any sort of keypad or button or anything on the inside, that would just be a pointless annoyance for people trying to leave. they instead have the same sensors that traffic lights do, to let you out

I hate gated communities and their Home Owner's Associations.  My grandmother has a family friend who has a family friend who has lived in one for years.  After there most recent election for who runs the HOA, the new group in charge became more aggressive and tried to turn the community against anyone who didn't agree with them.  One of them even tried to do a hit and run on my grandmother's friend.
