Author Topic: Wow - A Petition website said "forget you" via email.  (Read 870 times)

So apparently my email was for some reason subscribed to this silly petition website, but the message was a little rude.

It's a bit old but I thought you guys might find this interesting.

"Dear forget You"

Blurred for confidentiality (and I added the red "forget you too")

i bet your name was "forget You" on the petition website, so nto really a surprise here lOL
you blurred out the message, and it probably said something like "Your name is innapropriate" or somethin.

This

They sent me another message on December 2nd.

This time it has less blurring since some of you wanted to know what they said.

Well now you can look at it. Your welcome.

You clearly set your first name to "forget" and your last name to "You". It's an automated message; the only thing they change is the <FIRSTNAME> and <LASTNAME> variables when sending the message out to everyone on their list.

Alternate explanation: the name you gave to your email address is forget You and they got it from there.

I thought someone took my email and subscribed to it.

That could also be the case (although any self respecting net aware organization will send a confirmation email first). The system itself does not harbor any malevolence towards you, however. It's merely coping names from a list.
