super long battery life WHILE IN USE
excellent hardware
pure android, updates within about two weeks of release (as opposed to what, the better part of a year if you're lucky?)

i had the 2012 version and it's still running just as beautifully as when i got it a year ago. it's also pretty damn durable.

I, too, have the 2012 version. Still runs magnificently. But I still stand by what I said earlier.

Dell Venue 8 Pro. $299, 8" screen, 32GB flash, 2GB RAM, runs full Windows 8.1 on an x86 processor. Not necessarily the best tablet all-around, but by far the most versatile under $500.
