Author Topic: Call of Duty-esque spawning.  (Read 456 times)

(Could also apply help i guess, move if needed)

If you've played any game in the Call of Duty series (which most people have done), the general spawning system works by spawning you as far away from the enemies as possible (granted as far as possible is sometimes right beside an enemy)

either way, i've been trying to re-create the showdown map from Modern Warfare, however if team spawns are used in the traditional sense, it would be very easy to just sit in a spot and shoot away at the enemy team as they poof into existance. this is why i'm looking for a system where you're spawned in a fair position away from an enemy, because the action around the map will constantly be changing

if this can be done with events that would be fantastic too

actually u spawn near allies

How does this spawn system know where the boundaries of the map are?

i wouldnt think it would need too, when there'd be preplaced spawn points and everything.
I was thing the system would just detect the spawn point either farthest from an enemy or nearest an ally (as pointed out earlier), and toss you right into combat

i've always made one life deathmatches, because if you place multiple spawns, it will only randomly spawn you at one of them, which is really annoying.

No it usually spawns the enemy behind you.

I like that.
