Author Topic: is this guy trying to rip my mom off?  (Read 569 times)

Today me and my mom were talking about my computer (Since I just got it back from the repair shop due to it not being able to charge, but the guy didn't do a very good job) So she was talking about another place and bringing my brothers computer in and getting it faster as a gift. So she brought it in and the guy told her that "It would be cheaper just to buy an entire new computer." And he tried to lead her on with these 'notebooks' that are 400 dollars. He said something like "These computers are top of the line, windows 7/8, can run almost any game or anything" and I got mad at her saying that he's trying to rip her off but she didn't listen. Of course she didn't buy it but, She doesn't know much of anything about computers.

I don't know if he's lying or if he means flash games. It made me mad though because I don't want my brother getting a computer that can't run anything but "Plants vs. Zombies" at 5 frames.

lol notebooks are stuff. they are not meant for games at all. also 400? biggest crock of stuff ever. my 1000 laptop barely can keep up with some games.

Computer repair shops are like car mechanics. They try to forget you over in any way possible.

i woulnt even try to seriously game on a 1,500 laptop.
no notebook gpu that exists works great enough to claim "any game"

That's probably what the guy wants
Car dealers like to take advantage of customers that lack knowledge about what they're buying. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was trying to rip you off

Its cheap but it's business

"games" is pretty vague. i can run thousands of games on a calculator at 30frames as well.

we are talking about "all" games as is the discussion.

Yeah i am so glad my computer repair place doesn't do that. they gave me a 400/500gb hard drive for free.
