Author Topic: Reduction in the army to Pre-World War II level  (Read 2920 times)

the united states was involved in the war from the beginning
yeah yeah I know, but I meant in terms of military involvement. I'm not much of a history person, so I'm not gonna argue the technicalities since that's not a battle I'm gonna win.

forget text just use more gas

I don't know how I feel about this, I mean we need to reduce military spending for sure. But if we cut a ton of soliders they'll just become a burden on another part of the government. We should scale down slowly year after year. I mean we have so much technology that we need less boots on the ground to get stuff done so we really don't need that many people.

The sad part is that despite this, we will still have the worlds largest military.

Also, why would we need those levels to be any higher than that if we aren't at war? So multi-million dollar missiles can collect dust in an aircraft hangar?

I mean, our military should be up there in the top rankings considering our country's size and economic output

but yeah, we shouldn't be owners of like 70% of all the military stuff in the world collectively

Also it's still good to do some military development, since that technology can be used in defense planning and stored in reasonable numbers in case a conflict does come up.

The better option is to slowly scale down the military and have a small active army while having a ton of soldiers serving as reserves along with having a higher amount of National Guard. As for drones, many vets and military experts would disagree with you.
can't wait 'till that goes away

of course until we get less stupid people into our government
Even though you don't really mean that, look at Iraq and Afghanistan, still after all these years we are still doing stuff. They are still dealing with insurgents in Iraq and in Afghanistan we still have yet take control of all the Taliban held territory. The Germans took France in 3 months, we are still in Afghanistan and it has been 13 years. Just goes to show what unconventional warfare can do when fighting a convectional force.

Well after WW2 we became a super power then after the cold war we became the super power. The government isn't going to easily let go of that title, no super power does. Then over time that country gets weakened. Just like the British Empire, the Soviet Union, national socialist Germany, Roman Empire, Japanese Empire, ect.
