That's because your ISP is a turd, and uses an oversold network.
However Verizon FiOS more than matches it's advertised speeds.
The rest of the devices will be doing mostly client-sided stuff, which uses more download than upload.
No, my broadband is not a turd, and my network is a business class contract too which nobody around my area uses. Use this and tell me how long it takes to download for you:
http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test

It took my wireless connection 10 seconds to do.

Download speed also lowers the upload speed, no doubt about that one.

No, my broadband is not a turd, and my network is a business class contract too which nobody around my area uses.
Then why did you say this?:
i've got speeds at 50mbps upload and download says my provider yet i only get around 15mbps max

Use this and tell me how long it takes to download for you:

13.5 seconds. By the way. I'm not on the business plan yet; home-hosting is still being considered.

What's your physical security strategy in the Porkeditor home datacentre? Do you have any measures in place to stop Pacneteditor pulling the power cord out!? Maybe you could post a risk assessment?

I'm worried that there are ominous threats lingering!

My ISP is perfect for what I need. I have 24/7 customer support allowance and they'll come out to me if I was to have any major issues. Plus I'm never getting downtime. Only because my speeds aren't at 50mbps doesn't mean that my ISP is stuff. I got it for reliability, not speed.

If I was wanting speed then I'd go elsewhere.
