Author Topic: what is the longest you have accidentally left a game running  (Read 3781 times)

I left GTA IV SA running on my dad's server. Not sure for how long until he noticed a slight rise in CPU usage.

There is currently a glitch with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms on Steam where if you close the game, steam thinks its still running, and that you are in-game.

Because of this, Steam thinks that I have spent over 100 hours playing, when I really only played like 10-20.

There's a girl I know who plays Dota, but for whatever reason she just leaves it running 24/7.  Literally 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For perspective, I play more than she does and I have 450 hours.

This doesn't actually fit the topic, but Toribash:

Restarting counts

Restarting turns it off, then back on
technically it maintains power to all parts so it's not really turning it "off", it's just a reset button

also putting your computer to sleep isn't explicitly good for it, and leaving it on 24/7 isn't explicitly bad for it

that's nothing

i never even idle it

however i did once fall asleep while i was playing it

You should be careful falling asleep playing games. I fell asleep with Sim City open, I woke up to a city full of crime, burnt buildings and almost at bankruptcy.

detriot

I fell asleep playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 once.
I woke up completing the objective for the park.

A Wii in my house was left on for nearly a month but it wasn't on the screen.

Left my PS3 on for a week or two, then went on holiday for about a month. Came back with it stationary on Little Big Planet 2 with no problems or disconnects, just a load of friends asking me if I was even alive anymore.

I also left my PS2 on GTA: SA for a month or something with a similar reason, but I'm not sure if it was for longer.

New record. 3DS has been running for 7+ hours.

Left my 3DS somewhere and it was still running after I lost it for two weeks. Somebody obviously must have charged it and not told me.

ive definitely left paper mario on for days at a time

i left my ps3 on for almost a year and it broke
