Author Topic: Two neoclassical buildings  (Read 3429 times)

Last year I began making a 1:1 scale replica of the Marriott Custom House, whose tower is built on top of a neoclassical building.
I had the idea to make a library using that neoclassical building, so far no interior.
Here it is

Later, I had found some other neoclassical facade and built something based on it.

You can rate and stuff.

1st one 9/10

2nd one 3/10 (I could build that in like 5 minutes)

I like the first one.
The pediment (inner triangle at the top) seems to be at quite a bit of a shallow angle (which is sometimes done), but is also a little bit blocky. In my opinion it would look a little bit nice if it had ramps on the top, to give it a smooth triangular look.

I like the spacing of metopes and triglyphs (or, where the triglyphs would go) below the pediment though.

I would agree with Skig though, that the second facade is definitely much more simple. Although that may just be due to how it's based on your reference material.

Keep up the work though, it looks nice so far.

Both are really nice looking.

The blocks used for the roof have irregular lengths. Using ramps would make it taller, and would not make it exactly 1:1 scale. Maybe plates would make it better, I'll try that.

that the second facade is definitely much more simple.
Yes, I know. The picture it was based off of was also simple, but it still looks nice.

No, no it doesn't
White paint and pillars doesn't make it the whitehouse, it makes it a White House.

I meant the south side.

I meant the north side

I have no idea what kind of white house you're thinking of but no, it doesn't.

1.) Stop quoting my images, they're already on the page and you're just spamming it up, and it makes the page load longer.
2.) Apparently you didn't read what I said in my first post. White paint and pillars does NOT make the White house, it makes a white house.
3.) no, the West, nor the East side are not any closer to the build, before you try those next.
4.) Turn off your computer, the forum only has so much room for stupidity, between theses posts and your earlier gallery topic you're pushing the forum's limit for the day.

u were that stupid when u were a kid too remember that

I was indeed stupid, but he's being more ignorant than anything else. I don't pretend to know everything, but at least I try to know what I'm talking about. Ignorance =\= stupidity

I'm not from the USA and I definitely know that the white house does NOT look like the first building in OP.
By Sir Info's logic, probably every neoclassical building looks like the white house.
