how did your dog even find it

It got into her fence somehow.  My dog tries to kill anything small enough to....get killed.  She has killed moles, a chicken, and mice.  Also tries going after squirrels, rabbits, and other mammals.  Doesn't care about birds though.

She kept sticking her tongue into the shell when the turtle retreated to safety then jumping back when she sensed movement.
