Author Topic: IP banning  (Read 717 times)

So I recently learned of people who claim to have 100s of account keys specifically so they can keep logging onto a server and being a jerk so I suggest the feature of an IP ban, so no account from that IP can join your game. I would like it to work where it records the number of times you ban people from each IP and if an IP exceeds more than three times, it prompt comes up say "would you like to IP ban this person?" and upon clicking yes, nobody from that IP can connect to you server until the ban time is up. This would help prevent IP banning when it is legitimately different people with the same IP/computer/household with that IP thing, but still prevent people non-stop coming back to your server with a different account.

I recommend this one over the other one.

A decent measure to take, but just an FYI, some people can easily change their IP simply by unplugging their modem for a few seconds/minutes

Yes but most people do not, it will prevent a good number of people from rejoining, and even if they do, then it makes it take even longer to rejoin, rather than ever five seconds.
