Author Topic: The Ultra-Raffle: Winners selected!  (Read 1931 times)

Within the next few minutes I'll unfortunately have to give SeventhSandwich the boot, move PowerDag up to take his place, and select another winner to bring up the rear. He seems to have gone offline and the game he originally wanted was already chosen anyway.
You piece of stuff. I was out of the house and you never gave a caveat that I had to be online to claim my prize.

I assumed it was obvious since each winner had to choose their prize before the next person could do so. I wasn't going to make everyone in line after you wait until you came back online, because you could have very well been gone for the rest of the night. Personally, I believe it's the entrant's duty to announce if they might not be around while the drawing is taking place, or even avoid the raffle altogether. I apologize again for the misunderstanding.

No, this isn't a misunderstanding on my behalf. You said that when 6 people are chosen, they could pick one of the remaining games. You shafted me because of something you literally never warned me about.

slow down, cowboy. regulith said he'd announce the winners literally less than an hour after he started the topic, i think you could've probably waited a bit, at least (if it was an urgent matter, disregard)

regulith also said this:
The first 15 people to post OR whoever is entered by 10pm EST (about 45 minutes from this posting) will be thrown into a randomizer and the top 6 will be able to pick which game they want in the order they're chosen.

take a look at the bolded text. the winners are selected in order, then asked what game they want in that order. it only takes common sense to then determine that you would have to be present during the announcement of the winners -- otherwise, you'd be holding it up for anyone below you on the list.

Yeah, so the proper response would be to just give me whatever choice was left after 5 people chose their game. I can think of at least 3 ways to solve this problem that wouldn't shaft one of the winners.

I had to make a decision and it was clearly the wrong one, and once again I am sorry. If this really means that much to you I will buy you a copy of Nightsky, the game you would have received had I done things your way. PM me your email and I'll send it to you.

i don't see much of a problem with how it turned out in the first place, but hey, you got regulith offering to forego the entire voting process just for you and give you a game out of his own time and money
