Author Topic: N64 AV cable  (Read 1764 times)

I pulled my Nintendo 64 out of storage the other day. Being the old and cranky thing this is, of course it decides to stuff on my day and not work.

What I know so far:
- Power works, LED works too
- Has not been fully cleaned
- AV Cord is questionable, I'll post some pics
- Yellow connector is bent a bit
- Apparently Petroleum Jelly is a temporary fix to this, but collects dust like crazy, and I think it's that bent yellow wire
- GC AV cable is the same as an N64 AV cable. Tested, doesn't work.

Here's the AV Cable, I still need to clean it:

The yellow cable in question, featuring my fat left hand, OoOoOoOoO spooky:

Ah stuff, meant to post this in Off Topic but I guess it works here...

N64 and GameCube share the same AV cable if you need to replace it.

Apparently I didn't read the full OP.

or buy a new one. how much can they be

if everything but the video wire is working it couldn't be a hard fix

if stuff goes wrong you can always jury rig a new video cable with an old camera-tv connector

Yeah just buy a new video cable and you'll be fine.

i guess you have a gamecube too so test both cords on it to try and narrow down the problem area
