Author Topic: Blockland crashes on startup. Can someone tell me why this happens?  (Read 3507 times)

Ok, so a few days ago, I upgraded my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7. After reinstalling Blockland, It says this...
"Blockland Display Initialization Failed". Am I doing something wrong? Can someone help me figure this out?
Here are my Specs...

Name: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
Manufacturer: (Standard Display Types)
Chip Type: Intel(r)915G/915GV/910GL Graphics Chip
DAC Type: 8 bit
Apporox. Total Memory: n/a
Display Mode: 1280 x 1024 (16 Bit) (1 Hz)
Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor

Thanks, NintenBoy

Download the latest drivers for your video card

Can you tell us what graphics card you have or what computer model you have?

Also, can you upload your launcher.log (if the crash happens before you see the main menu) or console.log (if the crash happens after you see the main menu)

First up, one of the most common mistakes made is not updating your drivers for your graphics card. Since you said you used XP, most likely your drivers need to be updated too.

Check your drivers and make sure they're updated.

Thanks, But how do I update my drivers when I don't know what  video driver I have?

Start>Control Panel>System and Security>System>Device Manager>Display Adapters
It should look like this:

Mine shows Intel HD Graphics 4000, which is my graphics card.

Then you search up that graphics card on the manufactures website, and download the latest drivers for it.

Depending on what you have it may or may not be as easy to find as mine were.

However that may not be your problem at all, it may be this:
quote = console]
[Total Ram: 757 MB
[/quote]
Having about 3/4 GB of total usable RAM is probably the cause. Please be sure that you have all of your wires plugged in correctly, and that you're not running multiple unneeded programs while launching Blockland.

Quote from: console
Total Ram: 757 MB
Lol I messed that quote up.

I still see "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"... Is this natural?

That means you don't have any of the proper drivers for your graphics card :D is it a laptop, or a tower?

Click Start > Run > type Dxdiag > hit enter
See your system model? Google that and put "graphics driver" after it
Make sure to only download drivers from an official site (like intel or amd)

Good luck!
