Hearts of Iron - a tale of a great italy and it's downfall, also HOI discussion

Hearts of Iron 3 is a real time grand-strategy where you can play as any country from 1936+ (i'm not exactly sure about the year limit, but i've seen people get to 1955). However, it could be pretty difficult, as described by this image;

i dont feel like typing it out so i'll just take a quote from the other topic

oh boy time for a bit of a story of a game i just had literally minutes ago

>decide to, for once instead of germany, play as italy
>noneutrality
>only 1938, blitz yugoslavia to hell
>by 1939 i've managed to, after a painstaking matter of 5 reloads of a save, take over greece
>best friend germany up there kicking ass
>after enjoying a moment of victory against greece, i decide to go for turkey
>its only around one or two IRL minutes before i swiftly conquer turkey
>realize i've been somewhat neglecting my afrika korps
>UK and iraq are slowly but surely taking over my territory there
>more south there are soldiers with UK surrounding them, but not invading them
>the soldiers are all out of supplies so i can't counter-attack them
>place troops on the borders of UK-occupied german middle east territory
>place two large squadrons on iraq's borders, before performing another blitz on them
>free some german territory as well
>groß italy
>suddenly holy stuff i swear i can hear the cavalry horn as within about 30 seconds german masses just start swarming in to free their middle east and afrika territory from the british
>mainly germany and me, italy as support, proceed to kick the UK's ass in the middle east and eastern africa
>manage to begin freeing up some of my men to the north as well
>enjoying my pizza
>suddenly dozens of events
>'CARIO FALLS TO THE AXIS'
>'EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PENINSULA STRONGPOINT FALLS TO JAPAN'
>'SYDNEY AUSTRALIA FALLS TO JAPAN'
>realize japan is loving stuff up over there too
>a couple more events about axis doing great things
>think it's a home run from here, everythings doing great
>in the past i put like 4 mountain troops and 2 infantry troops on the turkish-russian border
and then

it happened
>barbarossa happens
>germany begins to kick ass once again, apparently manages to screw over britain too
>russians overwhelm my turkish-russian defenses
>proceed to storm turkey while i panic a little and begin moving troops from iraq and east africa to turkey
>it takes hell of a long time for them to get there, and when they do, my stacks of 4 units begin falling to russian stacks of 1 to 2 units
>germany's gotten pretty far deep into russia, which i suppose is good since it appears i'm attracting half of the russian army
>russia storms over iraq, which had pretty much no defenses now
>russia seems to only be delayed slightly by the numerous troops i throw at it
>can only get light armour even though its 1941-1942
>russia invades my iraq territory and germany's middle east territory, leaving really just turkey for them to go for next
>russia, halfway through turkey, apparently manages to puppet it because of the stuff occupation-annexation system

now comes the most bullstuff part

>apparently since turkey was liberated as a puppet of the USSR, i now have a treaty with it
>all of my remaining troops (there were quite a bit semi-large stacks of them, but not outrageously large) in turkey get stuck in 'foreign territory', which only happens if you're in peaceful territory
>cant even invade turkey for some odd reason even though they're USSR's puppet and in comintern now
>once i realize whats happening, i immediately begin pulling them out
> they go slow as hell because of all the mountains in turkey and low supplies
>russian army quickly overlaps all of them because friendly territory and completely decimate 97% of my troops in that country
>greece performs an uprising because, once again, the occupation-annexation system is complete stuff
>germany is still really far deep into the USSR, but im still getting a lot of the stuff of it
>decide "forget it, it's not really that much of a cheat"
>begin putting in the 'surrender' cheat into console, because it's not really cheating since i'm already occupying it, and the cheat will just make greece go from occupied to conquered/annexed
>apparently arrange 'ITA' and 'GREE' wrongly, causing greece to fully occupy me
>didn't save that far in, slightly rage

the aftermath
>reload save, its back to when i took over iraq, and right after a lot of the whole 'axis beats everyone to hell' events
>pause almost immediately, begin redirecting a lot of troops to the russian border
>put in the 'surrender' cheat for turkey and greece (NOTE: in a very earlier part of this game, when i forgot to save, i had invaded turkey and conquered it rightfully so it wasnt much of a cheat to do that to them)
>unpause, almost immediate "GERMANY INVADES RUSSIA" notification
>russia proceeds to kick my ass to hell once again, but more slowly because i had a bit of time to react
>germany this time doesn't even really make it past the russian polish border
>i cant even play this anymore

anyways, i haven't seen one in quite a while but yeah a hearts of iron game discussion with a not-really-informational OP

i can't really handle technology by myself, but the rest are find most of the time. although im stuck on easy and sometimes have to use the ai for troops.

i find the most fun when i join the axis as some semi powerful powerful country in a region and take it from there. as brazil i took most of sa, as mexico i took central america but the brits did there own little invasion, as sweden i got norway, finland, and the baltics before joining in with a static barbarossa and then getting absolutely crushed by the soviets. although in that game japan grew loving HUGE. they took australia, new zealand, most of india, indochina, and indonesia. they could of gotten hawaii if they weren't so focused on asia.

this monstrosity happened when i decided to stay neutral as japan and see what happens
they latter released the netherlands and poland as a puppet, and got finland as a puppet

Bought the game and turned the United States into the arsenal of democracy, then promptly got pissed when my transports couldn't take any of my units to Frace because they had no range. I don't know how to fix it.
