Gmod. Downloading via workshop error

I just bought Garry's mod today and was excited to play it (NOTE: I've had gmod before and it didn't do this) and I went to go on multiplayer, noticing it took too long to load I went to another one, but it took twice as long downloading things left and right via workshop, help

I'm guessing this is a new Gmod folder. If it isn't, try cleaning out your add-ons folder, and if that doesn't work, re-install the game completely.

If it's a new Gmod folder, chances are it's just trying to download all the server files or downloading all of your old files. Be patient or get all the necessary items you need on the Workshop.
