he doesnt want to replace the internal
after seeing all I have to do for external I might get a new internal. Problem would be file transfer.

250 seems like enough space. And assuming all I need to do is open my system and switch them out seems easier. Although that sight seems a little sketchy. Have you gotten something there before?

Nope, the instructions on the official guide I linked are the same no matter what drive it is. Just put it in the PS3 and install the system software using either a USB stick or a game disk which has an update file on it

It's not a matter of will it work. I know it will work. I just want to make sure there are no extra steps other than popping it in the system.

you can get an external hard drive for PS3s on any shopping site ever, you can also go to your local electronic entertainment store (or whatever it is called in freedomlandia) and buy it there, im sure theyll have it
