Author Topic: Where can I get an external or internal hard drive for my ps3?  (Read 1253 times)

I would recommend you at least maybe 500GB, 100GB is really low. Also a 500 gig hdd would cost about 50 to 60 bucks and that's a quality on too.

It's not me it's my dad paying. What is the average price?
hmm let's say you wanted to store 500gb

And it is 100% compatible with a ps3?

if your parents' 12gb external drive works with your ps3 it should work

Google could link to sites that are potentially unsafe. Hence why I said I would prefer not online.

Man, how do you even use the internet?

On topic, however; any USB storage device is compatible with the PS3 and PS4 as far as I'm aware. I would suggest buying a proper HDD and sticking it in your PS3, however as it should be faster than anything over USB which is important on modern consoles since they love to install the games to the system. You can find guides online which detail the process for upgrading the internal storage but it's not a complicated process AFAIK.

No it is an internal hard drive

But the ps3 does have 2 USB ports so I would think I will get the box and read

In addendum to my post above, here's the official Sony guide to replacing the internal storage on a PS3:

I don't want to replace the internal. I want to use that and the external.

I'm pretty sure external hard drivers have limited functionality on the ps3 unless you're jailbroken.

Yes

Then you're dumb.

I hate to break this to you, but you are literally choosing the least desirable method of expanding the storage space in your console. But whatever, I hope you enjoy installing games at 1/6th the speed of the internal storage
