Author Topic: PSA: Be wary of Reign of Kings  (Read 885 times)

Many of you may have heard of Reign of Kings, a medieval survival game thing which is rapidly gaining popularity.

Unfortunately... the developers are CodeHatch.
CodeHatch's first game was StarForge. At first with a $50 dollar pricetag. They promised a lot of stuff for StarForge, but they've abandoned it as a buggy, underwhelming mess.

If you think Reign of Kings is promising, hold off on it. Like StarForge, it is still extremely buggy.
I'm also finding a lot of hacker reports. Looks like the kiddies from Rust and DayZ have migrated.

Scroll past the system requirements for Reign of Kings's reviews.

Dev proof that doesn't require looking for their name in the game description

My friend keeps saying it looks amazing. I shall show him this.

I didn't even realize StarForge died

I saw it awhile back, thought it looked cool, put it on my Steam wishlist for later, and completely forgot about it

I have told several people about this but they just yelled at me :c

I saw it awhile back, thought it looked cool, bought it and watched it become one of the worst disasters in game development history I've ever seen in my life.
ftfy

Wait, they had the AUDACITY to use the cursed CodeHatch name for another project? What the hell?

I'm glad I hesitated on buying this now. I wouldn't give these richardbags another cent.

bwee bwoo bwee bwoo really stuffty game incoming (primarily talking about rust here)

the best part is that it uses a lot of scripting from starforge. i'm not sure if they actually state the engine, but you can see by how the player moves around that it's the same one.

chivalry is a great game

I have RoK, I find it extremely fun, so I'll give them that, Furthermore...

There has been an extreme hacker problem, but just today they released an update which includes an EAC implementation and some of their own. I can't confirm if it works like intended, but i'll see later.

Their updates seem pretty quick and contain a good amount of content (last update was aprox a week ago, they added a stuffload of furniture and practice weapons in this update along with the anti-cheat)

I feel they have changed alot, but if that still doesn't make you want to get it, fine, i can see why (Starforge)
but i feel they really want this game to come out like people want. Yes, the game is glitchy, and I won't use the excuse of "just because its alpha means u should shut up!!", People don't understand that games need feedback (which is KINDA the reason why its early access guys...), and it really hurts me to read people's replies that do that. Either way, I find the game really fun.

no, but i still do think rust is stuff (and still is), but I really think they did a good job with RoK. This is just my experience, you don't need to be biased when they say it is inspired by (which it is really), concept is good, and i find this game waaaay better. Its really fun, if you try it.

Chivalry is fun aswell.

Alpha 11 (the anticheat update) http://steamcommunity.com/app/344760/discussions/4/611702631243949548/

Note: I always reccomend that you get any game after early access (unless you are spoiling your diapers on a game)
