Snakebird, simply put, is a puzzle game where you collect fruit and reach the exit. It's never as easy as it sounds, though, is it? You control one or more snake-like birds, whom you must lead around the level inch-by-inch while gravity pulls down on them. Each fruit you eat in your quest to open the portal makes you a little longer, simultaneously making it much easier to turn back on yourself and get stuck. Be careful, the game may look cutesy and childish but some of these puzzles are devilishly difficult. Later levels even toss in movable blocks and teleports to really crank things up a notch. Check out the
trailer to see some of the challenges you'll face, or try it for yourself with the
demo. The full version features over 50 levels and can be purchased for $6.50 from the
official site DRM-free with a Steam key included, or straight off the
Steam store for $7.00 if you so desire.
(Full disclosure: I don't actually own the full game. I just played the demo and thought it was a really neat concept that I'd never seen before, so I wanted to share, despite being way too dumb to justify buying the retail version.)
