Author Topic: Why do some names have italics in the player list when most don't?  (Read 877 times)

Title

Aaaand here are the pictures:

Here's one I took a few minutes ago.  I know that SMF allows for users that have different positions or permissions on the forums to have different formatting in the player list.  This one contains both Rotondo and tails for comparison.

Here's the second one that I took earlier today that has the user Gaz in it with the italics name.  Any ideas, guys?  Is it happenstance or is there some illumnati bullstuff going on here?

This was explained before I'm pretty sure, they checked the "Do not appear as online while logged in" box in the login form before it was removed, and now can't get rid of it. Sorry it's so boring, I would love if it was some super secret blockland 2 beta club :(

There used to be a "do not appear online" option, which meant you didn't appear in the list.
This was removed however, and anyone who had it on at the time now appears with italics.

This is what I have been told. You'll note how it is exclusively old members.

Well that was anticlimactic.

I think that it may be broken for Rotondo and Badspot.  At least, they appear in the list, but if you view their profile, they appear offline.  This was what I observed over the past few week, though.  Is this accurate?

I think it's probably a seperate system from the "Do not appear online" button, like a "Moderators don't appear online" option, but yeah, that's true.

Neither Badspot nor Rotondo appear online according to their profile page, but if online they will appear on the active user list.
I can't recall exactly, but I believe the same was/is true for Ephialtes and Kompressor, so I think it's a Moderator option.

That's actually how it's intended.
Italic names in the Users Online list don't show their online status on their profile or what they're doing in Who's Online.

Pretty sure Badspot modified SMF to show hidden users in the list.
