Author Topic: Computer not finding wifi (Windows 8.1)  (Read 942 times)

I was hosting my CityRPG earlier and my computer crashed. I started my computer back up and it was not finding the wifi. Usually I just click the little wifi icon in the bar that pulls up on the right, but its not there anymore, the only thing it shows is a computer with an ethernet cord and a red circle with a dash through it, saying "please insert an ethernet cord". There was also an icon on my tower that showed it was looking for wifi, but that is not there anymore either. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

ur wifi didnt like ur server
im sorry, i blame the administration

Do you use one of those wireless wifi adapters?
If so, check if it is plugged in and if there is lights, see if they are on, as of the adapter is on.

You are so helpful...

You probably accidentally disabled your adapter by pressing a key.

Check your control panel network settings for the adapter.

I do not use a wireless adapter, it's integrated in the motherboard. Another problem though, I open the device manager and the wireless device is not found.

That is your wireless adapter...

Chances are you probably broke it off somehow, my Xbox 360 did this too.

Do you know where I can find the wireless adapter so I can plug it back in?

Probably would recommend taking it to a computer repair store.

You could try to restart your computer a few times

I have a d-link wireless USB adapter that I used for my old PC, but whenever I plug it into my new PC it detects it, but doesn't download the drivers for it. I downloaded the driver installer from the d-link website but whenever i try to finish installation nothing happens.

Oh, a USB adapter. Arg.

I plugged it into my computer when the wifi stopped working, and I tried installing the drivers but it wont work.

I think the adapter is broken.

Can you plug it up to Ethernet at all? If not, just buy another adapter if it's usb.
