Author Topic: Clientside Anti-Gore  (Read 1623 times)

From my understanding the blood in Despair Syndrome is incredibly important. Considering how it's a murder mystery game. So turning off blood effectively ruins the game for yourself.

Also the blood in Despair Syndrome is not an official add-on so being able to limit the gore clientside is up to the mod maker. Badspot wouldn't be able to regulate this.

You can't make third party gore client sided if the gore doesn't use the default gore from the core game. You probably could but it would probably forget something up considering how the add-on maker never intended for his gore to be broken by a client.

You can actually open the mod yourself, name it something different and change the gore. Then you can host it without gore.
The problem is OP doesn't want to see the gore in other peoples servers.

They created a gamemode to be played a certain way.

I'm assuming your problem is that you can't see anything while being shot (or similar), but this is a gameplay element just like hiding player names.
Blood doesn't affect gameplay, what? It's purely visual, and there's plenty of games with an option to disable blood.
The "can't see anything while being shot" is default with the game (redding the screen) so that's irrelevant

The only possible issue is what Tony mentioned, where blood is a clue. And if you disable it there, you're hurting yourself, not giving yourself an advantage

you could just replace the pngs in vehicle gore to blank images

there's plenty of games with an option to disable blood.

The only reason blood is an option that can be turned off in other games is because it is a core game function embedded deep into the source code. Just like shaders is a core game function in Blockland.

Blockland doesn't have this. So it can't regulate third party add-ons.

You can't make it optional for a function that doesn't exist in the source files to begin with.

It depends on the add-on maker. Even then it would only be optional server sided if people choose to enable the "optional no gore" version of that despair syndrome mod.
