Um... Instead of just ENDING YOUR FRIENDSHIP how about you just use common sense and confront him with it? Don't assume stuff like this. It's this kind of crap that makes people regret their actions. Don't make it harder than it has to be.

In all honestly, he probably either just thought you weren't interested or had been rejected or something. Moral of the story? Don't sleep on stuff you want to achieve if it has to be done in a timely manner.

He might have been planning to ask that girl out before you even told him about it.

Unless he's a sadist I doubt he asked that girl out specifically to forget with you.

Either way though, it's a completely richardish thing for his friend to not tell him that he also wanted to ask the girl out.

If he had done that then maybe they would have come to an agreement and let one of them ask her out, or they would have both decided to not ask her out, and not let another person come between them.
