that river seems to be just slightly over-exaggerated in size
arma doesn't do rivers. something to do with how water has to be the same level for the whole map, so the only bodies of water that can exist have to oceans. unfortunately that means no flowing water either. arma 3 has a lot of holdovers from much older bohemia titles, but it's still one of my favorite games. i cant say i wouldnt jump ship if a new arma competitor came out.
arma's problem is that it's always chasing these far-off concepts with no application. arma 3 shipped with underwater combat, but only three factions and a handful of vehicles and weapons. you couldn't switch weapons while moving. things that are industry standards in shooters do not exist in arma 3. we didn't get a usuable mission editor (the source of
all mission and gamemode content in the game) until a few months ago. the game would be dead in the water without mods, and those mods wouldn't be there if arma weren't the only game in its genre.
