Haixi can bumrush to Qing now with some sick moves, Ottomans as easy game or castile/portugal for the colonization. I never played france or england because i didnt have a sense of focus on it. Of course my favorite opener was Aragon no CBing byzantium and kicking ottoman's ass with austria/poland and taking a bunch of land for myself and eventually diploannexing byz and becoming byz myself. probably easiest roman empire start.

teutons are also good if you can get into HRE to go full prussia

I never choose the same country frequently. Variety is the spice of life, however I love playing as hordes. This was my last game as golden horde on ironman

Yes but you absolutely NEED a couple DLCs. I would wait for a sale to buy the  game and dlc. The two most needed are probably art of war and common sense. Followed by Rights of Man but even I don't own that one.

However if your going to be playing with friends and they have all the DLC its no problem. And if you use steam family sharing with someone who owns all the DLC you basically get them for free
