TL;DR: A realistic survival game the encourages coop instead of PvP because no one has done that before

So ive been thinking about random stuff I could do if I became a game dev and ive been thinking about two things: A RTS space mecha game thats like Knights of Sidonia because thats p cool and what ive mentioned in the TL;DR.

So the plot of the latter one is that the US of the A is a victim of chemical war en chemical warheads dropped all over the US and everyone died the end. Only a few people that had acces to gasmasks survived including you, other survivers and a handfull of police/militairy. The US has fallen and the chain of command is totally forgeted. Meanwhile Russia thinks this is a golden oppertunity to Annex the US and forget more stuff up so they do that and the US is now Russia 2.0. While the Russians hunt down the few remaining forces of the US, You (and others) try to survive and gather filters for your mask and supplies to well, survive while in a crossfire between the two factions.

So basically you can raid the two factions or do missions for them to get stuff and whatsnot. Now the thing is that the game encourages coop play instead of just shooting everyone the second you see them. For example if you want to transport lets say a crate full of rifles you will need 2 people to move it. Or you can just take one and forget off but why take one when you can take 10. Make a little militia and forget both factions with the weapons you looted and get even better stuff. So basically a faction system or something I guess. Base building will also be there ofcourse so you can costumise your little militia HQ to your hearts desire, or just make a rape dungeon. Up to you
Also lone wolfing will be hard as loving stuff

so like
the division with a survival aspect

eh
not really
id say something more like dayz except the zombies are russians and the game itself isnt stuff

To be honest making co op more important than pvp would be hard to implement unless you made everything that you can do solo hard, people kill others usually for loot or fun, you can't really change that unless you add a cheap mechanic that removes some of their items.

But everything else seems like a neat idea, it would be cool to see a game just like this.

Don't Starve Together did it nicely! It had options for both coop and pvp, but at least 85% of players play in servers without PvP on. Like, the amount of servers with more than 4 people on it and PvP enabled can be counted on one hand's fingers. Of course you still had the option to camp somewhere far from anyone else and live solo but PvP was still off.

In dayz if you shoot people theres a high chance all or most of their gear/items get ruined because well, bullets break things. A system like that would be coolio, altrough we shouldnt really punish people too hard who dont like to team up

Additionally spawning only starting gear like sidearms or stuffty .22 rifles or something in residential areas, or atleast a very low chance of militairy grade items and having a high chance lf militairy grade items in areas where coop play is essential ot raises the odds by allot

That's too realistic and frankly it seems to discourage scavenging in order to survive just as long as there's any enemy near.

I haven't actually played DayZ to judge but that still sounds too realistic.

Well yeah it kinda has to be a realistic game otherwise here isnt really a big challange. Not really dark souls level but more like ArmA-ish. Maybe a little bit more HP but something arround that

I mean, sure, but it sure sounds unfun to have your inventory's contents able to be blasted in seconds. Having both my legs crippled in Deus Ex without medkits to heal them which forces you to crouch or losing all your gold (and something else?) when dying in Dark Souls and having to go all the way from the start to the place you died to get it back was enough for me.

But I guess that's because I haven't played ArmA either.

Thats why you have you to be carefull. You dont just run arround in the middLe of the street with a bright yellow jacket in an area where there might be allot of players (e.g. Chernarus in DayZ, tbh I avoid that place at all time.)
Oh and maybe a revive system for when youre playing with a squad. Another reason not to play alone/kill people! But if you start a 1v4 in the first place thatd be stupid tho so iduno.
