Author Topic: Valerian is garbage  (Read 3162 times)

I have seen this film four times and it's as if the enigma of the intricately crafted layers of the story becomes a little clearer each time. I guess you should stick to Marvel flicks if you can't handle a deep story.
bad troll

other than the forced romance between valerian and laureline the film was decent
The romance is in the comics, so it should've been really genuine. That's one of the worst parts of the film. Idk how you can say 'the film was decent' though. The dialogue was legit some of the worst I've ever seen in a high budget film. Maybe the script looked okay but the acting was just terrible. It was completely bland and emotionless and all of the casting was really bad (except for Rihanna, which was still questionable). The climax felt really contrived (why the hell would they assault that ship that literally wasn't hurting anyone as a first resort?) and Bubble's (was that her name?) death scene was ridiculous.

Definitely not as bad as Green Lantern though. Leagues above The Last Airbender for sure.

Idk how you can say 'the film was decent' though..
It's a magical thing called opinions

i dont tend to nitpick every little thing in movies. if I get a good vibe from the movie then I like it. if i don't, I don't.

im not a critic and I dont overthink and brown townyze every detail within in a film

No stuff, did you just figure that out?

I mean, I agree with that. I usually excuse technicalities and stuff if it's generally good (a lot of stuff on Game of Thrones makes zero sense) but like, if the main actors are bad that's something I usually can't ignore. They're supposed to be driving the whole plot forward and they can't even deliver their lines. I guess it's different for different people. The movie was really neat in the style department, in the looks of the city and the aliens, I thought. I really liked the opening 'first-contact' montage.

this brings up another thing

i remember there being a game of thrones thread last year when season 6 was airing. kind of want a new topic for discussion because literally no one I know watches game of thrones and it pisses me off

damn, I was afraid it would be one of those movies where the studio is more concerned with great visuals than the writing. seems that's the case.

except the visuals arent great either lol

bleh i was hoping that this would be a good movie cause i really like sci fi stuff

ohh well at least there's blade runner 2049 to look forward to

yeah, as for me personally instead of brown townyzing things i kind of just make fun of them or laugh when something weird happens or a mistake happens in a movie. not that i like it when a movie turns bad or i like to laugh at mistakes people do, but i mean what else can i do if i'm going to think logically of what has happened in a movie so far? i can't really ignore it but i don't really want to be upset about it too really.
