I would've gotten this if I didn't get the N3DS XL because I literally never use the 3D option

speakers are fine, sound is relatively the same despite the different position, i'd imagine it could be possible to cover the speakers if you have big hands but I don't so it isn't a problem for me (however i would find myself sometimes accidentally covering the speaker on my older 2DS...)
