1. Add on installing isn't that hard, believe me, I'm 'teh mac' too. If you have installed the folder into your Applications (and are not simply running from the mounted disk image) then surely there's nothing tricky behind drag and dropping items in (although if they include shapes folders, just empty the contents into their respected addons folders too, don't overwrite the ones in there)
2. If you are missing particles, this is probably because they are part of another addon, and if you don't have them, the server won't bother to help you out. Just simply find the location where it should be (i.e. base/data/particles/star6.png or otherwise) and replace it with a .png file of your own. It won't affect you as you enter servers anymore, and 9/10 times you won't even notice which particle it is. It's just someone's addon giving you a hard time.

4. Have you considered changing your name? Or being rather malicious and finding his profile, then messaging him in some form of threat... although you did not get that idea from me, and no there never was a natho101 before me...
